Though telecommuting or teleworking are not new concepts, organizations are starting to see their because of the shifting work habits of the next generation work force. The lines between personal and professional time continue to be blurred as the ease of staying connected and accessible increases. None other than NASA is promoting its “Work Anywhere” program http://fcw.com/articles/2012/09/25/telework-strategic-tool-agencies.aspx. Other employers will surely follow suit. It’s not only smart business planning but it’s also a way to keep employees (particularly younger generations – see article below) engaged and satisfied. And engaged and satisfied employees are high performing employees! We believe that we are headed towards a time when, for many jobs in many organizations, telework will just be work. The distinction won’t need to be so distinct – employees won’t need special dispensation to work at home, as long as the work gets done!
